Vamos! We are looking at an action packed semifinals for the US Open, and I could not be more excited. Are we going to see the glorious king Carlitos versus Novak lemon water Djokovic again? Or is Shelton going to cement his place in men’s US Open history and take down 1 and 2.
First off, I’m just gonna get the Alcaraz match out of the way. What he did to Medvedev in the semifinals of Wimbledon should’ve been embarrassing enough to have Daniil forfeit this match. Simply enough, there’s levels to this shit. U get a guy who can get to any ball while still hitting with more power, and the 6’6” guy starts to lose importance. While Medvedev has looked poised and very tactical in his play against his two previous opponents who are very solid, it’s just not the same. The level of play in tennis today is 1-2, then Medvedev, then everyone else. His only shot on a final was not meeting Carlos on the way. Not much else to say here other than shut your mouth and know your role you jabroni. Look for this match to go 3.
Now for the real test. While I’m not the biggest Djokovic fan, I really do not see a snowballs chance in hell he loses to Shelton. He already lost to one 20 year-old in a major this year, and I’ll be damned if he does to anyone not named Carlitos. This guy simply never underperforms in any tournament that holds relative meaning. It’s hard to look at the facts and not call him the greatest of all time. I do think Shelton matches up nicely with his style of play and serve power, because you simply will not beat the Joker in rally points. Look for this match to go 5.
Overall, there hasn’t been much of a surprise in this tournament. Stefanos, Holger and Casper all underperformed per usual. The only unusual thing it’s Fritz made it past the first round of a major. Fake American. On a side note, give a round of applause for Coco, hoping she gets the job done because you gotta root for her. All in all, I would love to see some Americans win the Open and bring back a champion for the people.
