Week 10: Commies vs. Seahawks – The Defense Is Officially In Shambles And Gives Sam No Help

It has become very obvious that we are not going to be playing for the 7th seed anymore. It should have been after the trades, but two little things called bias and optimism hindered myself from having a realistic view of the situation. We were unable to take down the Geno Smith led Seattle Seahawks in what turned out to be a very entertaining football game. The Seahawks are one of the NFC teams who we were battling with for that last spot. In my honest opinion, neither of our teams will end up with it as Josh Dobbs continues to grow the whole America’s quarterback narrative in Minnesota. I never want to watch us lose a football game, but we are at the point in the season where I can comfortably say this was a game that helped our draft position.

Our win total is likely out the door with the remaining schedule we have. I apologize for breaking this news to anyone who took that. Unless we can steal a win somewhere, I see almost no chance in us getting to 7 wins. You would expect the Giants, Rams, and Jets to be those three wins. But we are definitely going to end up losing at least one of those. Don’t even get me started if Aaron Rodgers is back by the time we play the Jets. We’ll have absolutely no shot. In that case, I think we could end up winning just one of those three. I don’t even have confidence this Sunday and we’re playing some mama’s meatballs eaten quarterback whose dad was probably involved with the Danbury Trashers. The Rams game I assume we’ll win but it will be another one where I am just hoping that Sam doesn’t get killed. For some odd reason, I have a feeling that we are going to steal one from the Dolphins. It’s a feeling I’ve had all year. No matter how bad we are or look in the week before that game; I just think we are going to win. No explanation there. It would complete the typical Redskin’s season. We haven’t had our annual “Where has that been all year win” yet, but we definitely have lots of opportunity down the road to pull one of those out of our asses.

With respect to what actually happened, the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that our defense SUCKS. It doesn’t just suck. It SUCKS. Before the trades, I completely think my opinions were inflated because of Chase and Montez who made me think our Dline was one of the best in the league. And it just wasn’t. Also, my opinions were anchored towards the 2020 defense because we essentially had the same roster from that team entering this year. I think we all know who to thank for this. I have a hunch that no matter who we put out there personnel wise, we would still suck because of the brains behind the operation. You could say I am quite excited for JDRs departure. After seeing Geno effortlessly move the ball down the field at will, I can now unfortunately say that we are so absolutely fucked for the rest of the season. I definitely should have known this after we let up 17 to the Patriots, but I didn’t. For the rest of the year, we might see some flashes of good, but I think we are in for a whole lot of bad.

To get into some of the player’s actions from the game, St-Juste did not deliver after I gassed him up in the last blog. He definitely sold heavy on us during the last drive with a PI and facemask call that let their offense stay on the field and then set them up for a chip shot. Just a really bad series of plays. A quote from last week’s blog was “It’s crazy how his play has improved tremendously since after he stopped doing the stupid anime box celebration.” He went on to do that celebration in the first quarter of the game after a 3rd down stop on DK. He did it on Stefon then ended up getting torched. Why would he think it’s a good idea to do it again to DK? I am not really sure. I have probably missed a bunch of other times when he has done it. But, the two times that stick out most to me have been these two. I must say that the dude does understand accountability. He didn’t shy away from taking what was coming in his post game interviews. He explained what he saw in the moment and how it led to the PI. You have to respect the honest answer. I learned a couple days ago after trying the Immaculate Grid that he is Canadian. Definitely contributes to him being a stand up guy. I also find it hilarious how Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Johnson, and Adrian Peterson can be used for almost every team when the Skins are on the grid.

The ejection was absolute bullshit. Extremely soft call. In respect to if that play was a penalty, yes I would say that it definitely was. But, to eject a 160 pound player for attempting to kill somebody is just straight up bullshit. Even if Emmanuel was trying his absolute hardest to take Tyler’s head off, then it wouldn’t have happened. Tyler’s Lockett’s neck is so thick and it contributes to the fact that his head can take large amounts of force and feel little to no impact afterwards. But with respect to the actual call, I do genuinely think that the ejection was not warranted. A penalty definitely was. Coming off Forbes last game where he actually played as if he belonged on an NFL roster, I was excited to watch and see if he could parlay back to back performances. An unfortunate call that makes this week another “Let’s see how he responds moment.” It should be a get right game but you never know with the Giants.

While it is easy to single players out, for example I could easily write a paragraph talking about Danny Johnson slipping and allowing Kenneth Walker to run straight past him for a 60 something yard touchdown. However, I just think it’s more deserving to shit on our coaching staff. Excluding EB because he’s the man. On the other hand with tweedle dee and tweedle dumb running the show, it’s a much different situation. Ron “Never go for two anymore” Rivera might actually have onsetting dementia. I think he literally forgets what happens during the game before he gets into the press room. Charissa Thompson said something on PMT that I mentioned last week and it made me so happy to hear. She talked about having made up some of her halftime interviews with coaches and if you go back to last week’s blog. There is a line saying that I don’t think Ron actually has these halftime interviews. Gotta give myself some credit here because I know for damn sure he has been that coach many times. He is never doing shit even during the game and there’s no chance in hell he speaks to reporters before going into the locker room. But, speaking to if we should had gone for two, the answer is yes but it also wouldn’t have meant anything anyways so who really cares. Either way JDR wasn’t drawing up shit to stop that offense. Just goes to show that we really might have the worst HC and DC in the whole league.

Speaking to Ron’s drafting and ability to make decisions that positively impact our football team, ranked dead last for PFF special teams grades, we have our very own 6th round draft pick Cameron Cheeseman. Ron’s guy. How this dude hasn’t been cut yet literally makes no sense. I watch every game asking why we haven’t cut Joey, but am now asking if the kicking woes this year have really been his fault? I can say with a lot of confidence that if the best player on our team wasn’t our holder then we would be way further down the shitter in terms of kicking the ball. Joey Slye would not have a job in the NFL right now if it wasn’t for Tress. He should be thanking him and taking him out to steak dinners every night. But for real, how the fuck is Cheeseman still on the roster. Like the only logical reason that I can pull together is the fact that he has a funny last name. You already know the Packers are licking their chaps waiting for us to drop him.

Now to get into the positives. Thank god. I am so happy that I am saying this and literally still can’t believe it. Sam Howell is leading the entire NFL in passing yards. I don’t think anyone in the world saw this coming after the first 10 weeks of football. I wonder what the gambling odds would have been for that bet. It was definitely something incredibly juicy. It has become extremely apparent that he is our guy and we will be building our future team around him. I am extremely happy about this move long term. That last minute throw to Dyami was just insane. I could write a whole fucking novel on how beautiful it was. Poetry in motion to say that least. And then the sidearms on the run to BRob. He is starting to stack phenomenal throws in individual games. It is really hard to not be excited about him moving forward.

Is Sam currently good enough to win us a Super Bowl? No, he is probably not at this moment. But at the rate he has developed throughout this season, you never know what he could become. As of now, his ceiling might literally be Mahomes. God, I hope we can keep him healthy. I think as long as he is able to go out there and put up more than 25 points a game regularly then he will give us the opportunity to win every football game we play. With our current defense, this definitely isn’t the case. It really sucks to accept this. You could see how defeated Sam looked after leaving it all on the field just for the defense to throw the game away.

The most underrated player on our roster and possibly the whole league is without a doubt Brian Robinson. The dude has sneaky been having one of the best seasons at running back in the entire NFL this year. He is currently the sixth ranked  fantasy running back in total points for the season. He also somehow has an anytime touchdown number that is always way higher than it really should be. I mean being able to take his anytime touchdown at around +200 is just a joke. The fact that he has been able to do this while averaging around 12 carries a game is ridiculous. I really don’t understand why EB disregards giving him the ball more often. On identical plays, BRob broke huge one’s in the passing game. Hitting the anytime touchdown bet on the first drive felt quite good. I understand the metric side of things and how passing the ball is more favorable for creating points. But it can’t go disregarded that we have an absolute dog lining up behind Sam. I think he should be getting the ball a lot more whether it be in the form of carries, screens, or broken plays. I don’t really care but EB needs to realize that BRob needs to be fed. The current state of our team may not be at its best; however, it’s hard to not be excited about our young core of offensive guys that will be around for the future.

Last thing on the game. The DK and Logan ½  jersey swap at the end was an overall feel good moment. Logan was being a W dad. He had to fanboy DK, which I really don’t think these NFL guys like doing to each other, to get the jersey for his kid. On DKs part, class act. The second Logan mentioned his kid, that jersey was already coming off. On the other hand, DK had no desire to get Logan’s jersey which made me laugh. For a second, I thought DK was about to say let me get your’s too. And it just didn’t happen. Still a W moment. I highly doubt Logan was expecting one of the most popular players in the league to ask for his jersey.

Now, to talk about our barn burner we have coming up on Sunday. My immediate thoughts on this game is that the under should be a lock. I hate betting unders, but it is actually going to be a New Years resolution of mine to start betting them. The thing is, as much as I would love to bet this under, I just can’t bring myself to root for shitty football especially when the Skins are playing. I will be in attendance this Sunday and don’t want to be sitting around hoping nobody scores. So for that reason and after all of the logic I have just provided, I will likely be betting our team’s over. Because I am very okay when we score and then gambling on makes it a win win for me. Or a lose lose but none of that pessimism. We all know Sam is gonna spin it, we’ll throw the ball 40 times, and we’ll see some sturdy griddys in the endzone after we score. The fact that I am even having doubts about us playing Tommy Devito is concerning. This is solely because he is playing for the Giants and the same things always happen whenever we play them. These same things I am referring to typically do not go in our favor.

While I am not expecting this football game to be very exciting, I am expecting us to win. I actually don’t think anybody in all of America will be tuning into this game unless they are a Skins or Giants fan. Who in their right mind would actually watch this game? There’s a chance it doesn’t even make it on Redzone. Not actually that was a joke. Sam is a walking highlight reel so you already know we are going to be in the redzone 4,5 hell maybe even 6 times this Sunday. My keys for the game are for our defense to not suck. It’s a big one. Definitely a lofty goal, but I think the boys are capable of it. We just can’t have Saquon run all over us for 3 touchdowns and 200 yards. Easier said than done, but it’s pretty obvious that they are going to give him the ball 20 to 30 times. If we can shut down their run game, then I really don’t see us losing this one. We will also have to look out for Micah McFadden on their defense. A helmet should be running straight to block him every play because he will put up double digit tackles and completely shut down our run game if we let him.

I hope this blog serves as a piece for people to read as a pregame for their Friday night activities. Wishing everyone the best for this lovely weekend. Thank god we made it to Friday. I hope to see FedEx bumping this Sunday. The tailgates will be starting early and boy am I excited to watch Sam spin the rock again in person. Good luck to everyone out there in life and gambling. Let’s have a weekend. Skins by 90.
