The broken record has yet to fix itself. I could copy and paste the recap from last week’s blog and I don’t think anyone would recognize I am talking about a completely different game. This team has given up. We showed absolutely zero fight from the first play of this game. The fans have given up. I would say it was 30-70 in favor of Lion’s fans at the game. One thing I will say is that midwesterners are much more friendly and easier to watch games with than people from the northwest. I guess it makes sense when you live in a part of the country where it is always cold and rainy. I would probably spend my life in a bad mood too.
In another game everyone thought we had no chance going into, we once again proved that there was never a sliver of hope or even the slightest decimal of a possibility that we would win. We did make some history on Sunday. Obviously, not in a good way. We became the first team since 2002 to lose 4 games in a row by 21 or more points. All you can really do with that one is tip your cap. We don’t just suck. We are historically bad. I genuinely think the 2019 LSU offense would put up 20-30 points on our defense. I always side with the professionals whenever these arguments arise. But, I don’t think these people have watched our defense play football.
It’s a sad sight. It’s really not a fun experience. I don’t know why I attend the games anymore. People complain about having to turn them on. How about getting in your car and driving down to shitty Landover, Maryland knowing we are going to get our asses kicked. The highlight of every game is the tailgate. I’ll say the team isn’t doing great this year but we have yet to lose one of those so far. It’s a great time hearing everyone say they’ve got a massive lock that just ends up being whoever we are playing. It’s a real shame I cannot bet against us. That’s crossing the line of fandom. Any nonbiased sports fan is sitting on a goldmine with the way Dan Quinn’s got the guys looking right now.
Speaking of DQ, he took over defensive playcalling responsibilities. It’s a respectable move. You would think he would shy away from it so he doesn’t have to take all the blame for what’s gone down. But, he wants the ball. You can say a lot about him but you can’t say anything about his character. Now, this leads me to my big question. What exactly are we paying Joe Whitt to do now and why has he not been fired? He clearly doesn’t know how to coach a defense. He doesn’t know how to run a scheme that fits his players strengths. He also doesn’t know how to call plays. So, I guess Joeys going to be getting a paycheck and free ride for the rest of the season. It is shocking that not only he but nobody else has been fired.
I don’t even think Whitt is my number one guy on the chopping block at the moment. Whoever our strength and conditioning coach is also sucks at his job. Every week we lose more and more players. We lost our best corner in Amos and Luvu. I just want to know what is going through Josh and Magic’s head right now. We’re past the “We made the NFC Championship last year” leash. That leash ended the second we lost to the Cowboys. I just have such a hard time wrapping my head around all of this. We are literally a joke.
I’m never going to root against us but we are at the point where I will be okay with us losing. I recently got back together with one of my exes. I’ve started looking at tankathon. I thought I was over her after last season but she just found a way to get back into my life. She is inevitable in Washington for every sport except hockey. We currently have the 8th pick. Any one of Caleb Downs, Reuben Bain Jr., or Arvelle Reese would be an awesome pick. Each of those three guys would immediately be the best player on our team at their respective position.
I apologize in advance to everyone who bought flights out to Madrid. Those purchases definitely didn’t age the way we all expected. I am glad I never got the wheels in motion on that one. It is really nice knowing we play in the morning Sunday. We’ll be able to get the ass licking out of the way then go on with our day as if nothing happened. I might even cook myself a nice breakfast for it. Some pankcakes and maple syrup would make things feel a little bit better. We have to remember that football isn’t everything around here anymore. I just hope everyone out there is having fun.
Should I talk bets? I don’t have the stomach to tell you to take our money line. There’s no way we’re beating a team that just took down the Bills. I advise taking the over. We’re gonna let up at least 30 which is a very generous number. Marcus will make some plays that get us a couple touchdowns. Us being 2.5 point underdogs is a terrible line. That should be at least a touchdown. If you are going to bet on anyone to score, then I advise Chris Rodriguez. He’s proven the last 2 weeks that he is the back we will be going with. First touchdown bets are cancelled for the rest of the year. I can’t cheat on Luke like that. It would be disrespectful.
Well, on the bright side we made it out of the gauntlet. We went 0-3, out scored by 67, out gained by 546 yards, and lost more players to season ending injuries. But hey, it could’ve been worse. We could’ve seen an assassination attempt at the last one, but secret service held it down making sure firearms stayed out of the stadium. At least some people in Washington did their job Sunday. Because we all know for damn sure by now it’s not going to come from the guys getting paid millions of dollars to win football games. Hasta Luego muchachos. Looking forward to writing back next week after a football game takes place in Madrid.
