Last Sunday was the hardest games to watch this season. And, we have had some very tough watches. I am still okay with my reasoning for getting my hopes up going into this one. We finally had a healthy offense and this team has nothing to lose. In past years, that is exactly the kind of meaningless game this team would somehow win. There isn’t much to say about this season anymore. I still believe we are going to pull at least 1 or 2 more wins out and end up missing on all the elite prospects.
We got goose egged for the first time in 6 years. We currently hold the longest losing streak in the entire NFL. This season is similar to when we started 2-0 with Sam Howell. We all thought the team could be something then Buffalo beat us by 30 points and we ended the season with 4 wins. The worst part of this game was the Zach Ertz injury. I think it’s safe to say that was likely the last down of football he will every play. He has been great here. I expect him to retire as an Eagle but would love to see him comeback and join the coaching staff.
The thing I am having the hardest time wrapping my head around is Jayden. He re-injured the same elbow. There was never any reason to bring him back this season. It just a what are we doing here moment. It’s the epitome of what this team was with Snyder. 13 years later, and we are witnessing another RG3 situation. Only this time in my opinion, it’s worse. We aren’t in the playoffs. It was a meaningless Week 14 game.
It’s such an interesting time to be a fan of this team. Here we all are wondering how the hell Peters is going to dig us out of this hole. At the moment, it seems like there isn’t much hope for even next season. But, then you remember we went from 4 wins to NFC Championship in one season. Was it an anomaly? Yes. But, it still shows that a quick turnaround is possible. We are going to be free agent heavy again this year. We only have 5 draft picks because we traded them all away going into this season. I will say that Deebo and Tunsil have been worth it. Neither of them have been a recurring reason for this team’s downfall this season. It’s hard to be upset about going all in believing we had a shot to be a legit contender this season. Everyone in the league expected it. It wasn’t just our fanbase being delusional.
To get into the game today, I once again think we are going to win. I will say the Giants are the most fun 2 win team I have seen in my lifetime. It’s just because Dart plays like it’s backyard football and refuses to slide. If I were to place any bets today it would be Bill to get in the endzone. Rodriguez is out today or he would be the pick. I also wouldn’t mind Mariota running one in. It will be quite embarrassing if we lose this one. However, it will help with our draft position which at this point I am more worried about.
This season can’t get much worse. Jayden should most definitely be wrapped up until next year. There have been little to no positives this whole season. To call it a disaster would be an understatement. It’s back to what we have always known this team to be. We will always have last season but somethings just never change. We will see what happens out there this weekend. Looking forward to writing back next week after today’s game.
