It took me almost a week before I could talk about this. We lost to the Chicago Bears, and it was a top-to-bottom disaster. This was the second time this year that I’ve watched our worst football game of the season. It’s disheartening because as of now I expect us to perform even worse in future weeks. It seems like every other week I’m questioning why I invest my time, money, and hope into such a frustrating team.
One thing I want to emphasize is that until this team earns my respect again, I will be referring to them as the Commies. This title was fostered and created by Dan Snyder who in my opinion is one of the most disgusting, vicious, horrible, and vulgar human beings to have ever lived on this planet. I will never associate any name that he had a hand in creating with something positive.
One of the few positives from this game was Logan Thomas. He should be picked up in every single fantasy league right now. I can honestly and unbiasedly say unless you have Andrews, Hockenson, Kittle, Kelce, or LaPorta then you should put him in your starting lineup. Eric Bieniemy loves using his tight ends and it has been awesome to see Logy reemerge into his old self. Sam got to step back and throw the ball 55 straight times. This was great to see because I started him in fantasy. It is insane that we didn’t think to run a single run play after going down. This is just a crazy stat to see. At what point does the defensive coordinator realize that we are not going to run the ball for the rest of the game. Just another moment of Bieniemy playing chess and not checkers. Eric was just trying to give Sam as many real time reps as possible to get him ready for next week because obviously the game that he was playing in during that moment had already been lost.
I must say, I have a distaste for Ron Rivera as a football coach. I respect the living shit out of him as an person, but it is time for him to hang it up as an HC. His recent responses to reporters don’t make much sense. He keeps digging himself into deeper holes trying to defend his decisions. The draft class from this year is unquestionably one of, if not the worst in the entire NFL. I kept trying to give Forbes the benefit of the doubt and then I watched DJ Moore go for 230 and three touchdowns. I’m over defending him. We’re going to see Quan Martin in his first NFL game six weeks into the season. Why is our second-round pick seeing his first regular season NFL snap in week 6? We lost Forrest and Ron’s response was “That’s why we drafted Quan.” A second-round pick is supposed to make an immediate impact. Not make his debut in week 6. I think the only rookie that has contributed anything so far has been Cole Turner. What the hell Ron!
Another person who needs to go is Jack Del Rio. He is in a dog house even bigger than Ron’s. Our defense is abysmal. Literally, everyone is underperforming. I saw a stat that Chase is in the top five in pressures this season so far. I actually liked seeing that and am very happy for him to be performing at a high level once again. But, literally everything else is terrible. I would never say something bad about Chase because he would eat me. However, one person I genuinely believe I could hold my own in a fight is Emmanuel Forbes. How did anyone think that a 160 pound dude would succeed in the NFL? I thought his demise would come from the run game but instead it completely has to do with just getting burned every other play.
Our defense doesn’t have anybody who can keep up with a talent like DJ Moore and we are going to play other receivers who are a lot better than him. The secondary is garbage, Will Barton is garbage, the schemes, and coaching decisions are garbage! I won’t go on a rant regarding the defensive line because I actually do think they will figure it out. However, it seems like they are going to have to pressure the quarterback and reek havoc pretty much every single play if we want to be competitive. There is just so much to fix and the easiest person to blame is JDR. He’s gotta go.
Because I need to get off my JDR rant, I will refer to a positive thought: DJ Moore is a Terp. We are a very pro Maryland Terrapins blog. We love the Terps. They are actually performing this year unlike the Commies. It’s very cool to talk about how the University of Maryland has produced two of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Stefon is easily top five and DJ top 15. One question I always ask every year is why this team never drafts anybody from UMD. I believe the last guy from Maryland that we had on the roster was Vernon Davis and he was about 40 years old jumping over dudes. No one in the front office seems to say, “Hey, maybe we should get more players from this guy’s college.”
Could’ve had Stefon Diggs in the 4th round. DJ Moore, Darnell Savage, Yannick Ngakoue, JC Jackson. But we passed on all of them. Another player from this past draft that we easily could’ve taken is Deonte Banks, who is now a starting cornerback for the Giants. From what I remember through the first five weeks, he hasn’t yet deleted his social media or had multiple 170+ yard games thrown on him. In the future, I will be a lot more okay missing on our picks if they went to UMD. However, for some reason we seem to love drafting from the other mediocre Big Ten football schools.
There was just so much bad in that game. I always ask why we can’t be a competent organization. I know this question is too packed and the answer will make me way too upset. I genuinely have lost all confidence. Unfortunately, I am way too loyal to this team and will be traveling down to FedEx for the rest of the season expecting to get our asses handed to us every game. I really do wonder how this is going to affect the vibes at the stadium. I’ll guess we will find out when the Eagles come to town. I already know the stadium is going to get overrun and we are going to lose by 50. That’s gonna suck.
Looking at the schedule after the first Eagles game, I was really confident. I genuinely believed we had a chance to win around 10 games and make it to the playoffs. I had faith in our organization. It’s crazy how one week can change all of that so quickly. Now, looking at our schedule, I don’t think we’ll win a single game until we play the Patriots. Hell, that’s being optimistic. We could so easily lose to Belichick. We might get a win against the Giants and Patriots, but other than that I can easily see us losing every other game.
All of this pessimism is not fun to write about. It’s funny because if we somehow manage to beat the Falcons this weekend then I will say we are so back. If we are back to .500 then we are within striking distance. It is a huge get right game coming up for the defense. Desmond Ridder is the perfect quarterback for our secondary to get some picks and get their confidence back up. He’s going to make a bunch of mistakes and we will need to capitalize on a lot of them if we want to win this game. The defensive line is going to have to come up huge in this one.
Imposter BRob is going to be a problem for us. Good thing we have our very own BRob who is able to put the entire city of Washington D.C on his shoulders. If you ask me who is going to have the better game on Sunday, I’m gonna have to go with BRob. But our BRob the one who got shot and not the other BRob who did not get shot. Just to clarify. I’m thinking the BRob’s are going to go for a lot of yards. It sucks that I root for our BRob and not the other one on Sunday or I would absolutely be taking that BRob boosted draft kings play that we all know is coming. I mean, they made a 9/11 parlay so they are definitely going to be taking advantage of both teams starting running backs having the same 4 letters in common.
My prediction for this game is that we are going to win. I don’t know how. But as a fan of this organization, I think we will be able to figure everything out and win this football game on Sunday. We are notorious for being one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL. If we had the 49ers on the schedule this week, then I would genuinely be more confident than us against the Falcons because that just how things go in Washington. The middle of the pack teams are scary because you don’t know what team is going to come out. The Commies will always be the ones playing against the bottom feeder teams. The Redskins will always come out and play against the juggernauts. Except for two weeks ago against the Bills, but that is past us because all I’ve been thinking about for the last week is the updated worst football game I have watched in recent memory. A win on Sunday would get everything out of the system. I know we are capable of making it happen. Whatever team I expect to come out of the tunnel, the opposite one usually arrives. Hope everyone has a great rest of their week and weekend. As Willy G says, Skins by 90.
