Hello world and happy weekend. I can say for myself that I have had a great week and it is all because we kicked the shit out of the Falcons last Sunday. While we are still in the market for a new team name, I would like to suggest the Washington Streak Breakers to be our new name. Last Sunday, we ended Desmond Ridder’s 31 game home winning streak the week before, we ended Chicago’s 14 game losing streak. The second stat isn’t one to be proud of, however, it is still a broken streak that we had something to do with. You can also give us the ravens, preseason streak, the Eagles streak last year, and the Steelers street from 2020. We are some dogs when it comes to reverting teams back to the mean. Thank god we didn’t have to see Taylor play in this football game. He absolutely would have won it for them. I normally hate seeing Arthur Smith double chins because I like him and want him to do well but oh boy what a beautiful sight it was to see this past Sunday.
The first of my takeaways comes from a stat that I heard earlier this week. There are 16 teams in the NFL that are averaging under 20 points a game. Shockingly, the Redskins are not one of them. We are scoring this year with an average of 22.2 points per game. I can give some of this credit to Eric Bieniemy, and I can give the other some of that credit to Sam Howell. However, I must say that we have such an unpredictable offense. Pretty much the only thing that has become consistent with our offense is targeting Terry McLaurin on the first drive. I think this is a really good strategy that EB has cooked up. I hope to continue seeing it, especially as I will continue to be hammering home on Terry McLaurin over receptions and yards this year. I don’t really care how unpredictable our offense is because we are putting up points and that’s all that really matters. Us to score 20 points today is so free.
My next legitimate question, and yes, this actually is a real question. Is Sam Howell the best quarterback in the NFC east this year? So far, he honestly has been playing better than the others. If you take away the Bills game, then his stats would be that of a pro bowler. And yes, I can say pro bowler because Tyler Huntley made it last year. So the bar is obviously extremely low to be in consideration for the pro bowl. However, last time I checked, it is still the All-Star game for the national football league. Sam has cemented himself into a must start in fantasy football. I could not be more excited to be running the Redskins stack of Sam Howell and Terry McLaurin. The things that people have been criticizing Sam for and saying that he needs to correct, he actually has been correcting over the his first seven weeks as a starter in the NFL. He shown consistent improvement despite taking a lot of bad sacks. However, the fallacy that Sam holds onto the ball for too long is a very misleading statistic. Sam has been holding onto the ball for an average of 2.78 seconds throughout this season. One of the quarterbacks named above him who holds on the ball for longer is Patrick Mahomes. Now, we all know Mahomes is incredible about moving around the pocket to get his line back in position against defenders. As Sam learns to do this, I think it is pretty safe to say that he will become a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes. That’s a lock.
The defense was a bright spot for this game. Granted be, we were playing against Desmond Ridder and I think everybody in the world expected him to make mistakes. I would like to say shout out to Juste and Jamin for grabbing the first interceptions of their NFL careers. Juste’s was literally handed to him on a Thanksgiving platter while Jamin’s was a great play. Chase Young had four pressures. Loved seeing that. Something I haven’t been loving is the fact that people want us to trade him. I saw one that had us giving Chase Young to the Ravens for 2 3rd round picks. If we actually end up doing that I would be really upset so I really hope our front office doesn’t absolutely fucked that one up. It would definitely suck to see us give away our monster for two draft picks that we are probably going to miss one. That is my opinion on the idea of trading Chase. Allen and Payne played a great game that once again wasn’t reflected on the stat sheet. It was very reassuring to see how we didn’t let Bijan Robinson look like the second coming of Jesus Christ. Montez balled out too. Pay the whole defensive line. I enjoy watching them play football.
It was a get right week for Emmanuel Forbes. He did not play a single defensive snap and sat on the sidelines learning. I saw an interview that he was being pressed by a reporter to talk about what exactly he took away from last week’s game. The answers that he gave seemed very typical, but in his situation what the fuck are you supposed to tell the reporter I think he handled the question very well by not coming off of as overly confident and saying how one week was enough to figure it all out. I do think he might be a little bit of a head case. However, I am all for giving him a few games to figure it out before sending him back out to the dogs. I honestly blame Jack del Rio for thinking it was a good idea to throw our first round draft pick up against opposing teams number one wide receivers right out of the gate. I am going to keep defending Emmanuel until it is absolutely impossible for me to do so. The blame goes to JDR. He should be fired for this and many other things.
My favorite shout out of the week goes to Jamison Crowder. He was the NFC special teams player of the week. The last Redskin to wear this honor was DeAndre Carter in 2021. His 61 yarder was our longest punt return since 2016. It was a play that absolutely switched the momentum of the game. The craziest thing I remember hearing during the game was the fact that the last time we house called a punt return was seven years ago, and it was by none other than the one and only Jamison Crowder. It is absolutely crazy to me that we ignored picking up a serviceable punt returner for so long I could not be any happier to not have to watch Dax fucking Milne stand back there and catch footballs only to run them back 3 yards and get his shit absolutely blown up. Thank God we have Jamison back. We all know that house call is coming eventually this year.
One question I must ask is why EB has a grudge against Brian Robinson. The real BRob not the fake BRob that we made look like a little boy last Sunday. It just seems like we really try to not give him the ball when we really should be giving him the ball. The Antonio Gibson play that resulted in a touchdown was the sound play call. I was screaming to give the ball to BRob, so that means the opposing defense absolutely thought the ball was going to be Rob. So the switch up of tossing it to Gibson in the flat was genius because my football IQ is that of every single defensive coordinator in the NFL. I am still open to offers from organizations but would prefer to bring my talent to the Skins.
Another what the hell is happening moment is going on with Jahan Dodson right now. I thought for him to have 28 yards in that last game was an absolute lock. The drop he had was a really really bad one. He could’ve hit a clean ass griddy into the end zone because there was literally no one around him when the ball slipped through his fingertips. Something that worried me was seeing him practice to be our holder. I immediately had to text some chats and ask what the hell was going on. The response I received was that he was likely messing around before practice and just wanted to see what the motions were like. To reduce the distance, I had to agree with this one. But like, if it actually does happen, where our first round pick becomes our holder, then we would be able to run some dirty fakes however, he would have to go down as an absolute massive bust. If he is going to be replaced by Curtis Samuel then I have absolutely no problems with trading Jahan to another team around the deadline to pick up pieces in places that we really need (linebacker and offensive line).
Moving onto the topic of Curtis Samuel. He is absolutely loved by Sam Howell in Eric Bieniemy. It’s becoming regular that we see him getting jet sweep carries in the red zone. Against the Eagles I had no problem with this play calling because it resulted in a touchdown and was super sneaky but when we ran out last weekend against the Falcons, I thought it was a really stupid play call. If we’re gonna do some bullshit like that then it has to be done within 5 yards and shouldn’t be done on the 10. If it had worked I would be saying something different but I just don’t think play calls like that are going to work regularly with opposing defenses now knowing that when Curtis goes in motion in the red zone. There’s a pretty damn good chance he’s gonna get the ball.
I have an apology to make it to the blog world. I would like to formally apologize for the cold streak that I have gone on in gambling. Looking back on last week’s game. It is crazy to me that posting BRob touchdown didn’t even cross my mind. No shit he got in the end zone even though he hasn’t been seeing the number of carries that he really should be. He’s a fucking dog. That is always so free and I need everybody to know that even if I’m not with the program at the time, you still have to be hammering BRob anytime touchdown. Not posting this pick is on me. I have to take full accountability for my actions. I know that every person who is associated with this blog is counting on me week in and week out to deliver gambling picks that absolutely smack. I need to get it together so we can all get rich and have our weekends pay for themselves. I will be better in the future. Thank you for being with me during these hard times.
Sunday is just around the corner and we have the New York Giants on the slate. I’m not gonna lie, this game scares me. It just seems like every time we play the Giants we end up playing down to their level no matter how injured or bad they are and find a way to throw this game away. One thing that already worries me is the fact that 70% of the bets are on us to cover. We are three point favorites right now. That is honestly a pretty sad line to see given how poorly the Giants have performed as of lately. I will hand it to them that they were able to stick with the Bills last week however, if you watch that game and ours, it is pretty obvious that the Bils played a much better game against us. Of course, Saquon Barkley has to come back from injury this week. He is literally the whole team and should be the poster child for the running backs movement. When Saquon isn’t playing for the Giants, they are the definition of a poverty franchise however, when Saquon suits up for them, they turn into a competent team that is able to produce points.
My biggest key for us to win this game is going to be shutting down Saquon. I literally don’t see anyone else on the roster that can really hurt us. Before the season, we all thought Darren Waller was going to take over the role as their number one receiver. However, things are not panning out in New York the way that Darren would have hoped. Moving forward, I am a huge Darren Waller fan. It’s really hard to not like the dude once you’ve heard his story. But for this week and the next time we play the Giants, I really hope he just completely sucks ass.
I hope Sam and the offense can continue to do their thing. Sam has gotten better about protecting the ball and not making stupid decisions. As long as he can continue to not turn the ball over, I think we are going to be okay. The drives that produced touchdowns during last week’s all came from defensive or special teams efforts that put us in great position to score. With Tyrod Taylor in at quarterback and a discouraged and shitty Giants team, I really hope we can ignore the past and play some fuck you football on Sunday and kick the shit out of them. I am confident in us to win this game. Way too confident but rightfully so. Skins by 90.
