The meaningless win we all knew was coming finally arrived. We took down the Giants in a game where a short term win was a long term loss for both franchises. With the Giants currently holding the number 1 pick, the last thing their fanbase wanted was a win. As for our draft pick hopes, we fell from the 5th pick to the 8th. We are on the cusp where one more win knocks us out of contention to draft any of the elite defensive prospects. And, we all know there is one more meaningless win still out there.
For a dumpster fire of a football game, this one was actually quite entertaining. I do think the Giants, for how bad they are, play a very fun to watch brand of football. It’s not diffucult for them when every game is either Dart or Jameis under center. Dart plays like he is the second coming of Marshawn Lynch meanwhile there is not a throw on the field Jameis doesn’t like. No matter who is on the field, it’s a fun watch. Dart has been evaluated for concussions in half the games he’s played. I do have to say I love the attitude. You don’t see a lot of quarterbacks fighting for the extra yards nowadays. Everyone thinks thats a job for running backs. It’s pretty obvious Dart spent a little too much time hanging out with Skattebo. His shelf life in the NFL will be very limited if he continues playing like that. All I’ve got to say is at least we no longer hold the longest losing streak in the NFL. That’s something I guess.
Terry, Bill, and Lane all found the endzone. It was nice to see Bill and Terry return to the forms we all hoped to see at the beginning of the season. It would’ve been nice to have this version of Terry around for the whole season. It is unfortunate his 1,000 yard streak will be ending unless he can pull together 600 yards in the last three games. I do think the most exciting way to cap off this season would be for Kliff to make it his goal to get Terry those yards. Not at all because I have a bet on him to reach 1,000. But because it’s what the fans want to see. Bill benefitted from the absence of Chris Rodriguez. If he can find a way to make performances like this consistent, he will be our guy for the remainder of his rookie contract. As for Lane, he took his second of the year back for a touchdown. Is he good receiver? No. But, he does know how to return punts and plenty of guys have carved out great careers doing that.
We have the Eagles coming to town this Saturday at 5pm. A mid day Saturday is one thing I can get excited about. While I am not a fan of drinking on Sundays, I can definitely get behind it on Saturdays. I do think we are going to lose today. My prediction for our last win is that it will come in Philly. That’s the game which makes the least sense for us to win. This is a short one this week. The Saturday game snuck up on me. I’ll go more in depth next week. But at this point it’s all draft talk. Looking forward to writing back next week after we help our draft stock today.
