First of all, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate. The win that took place last Sunday has made this bender of a week that much better. It has been a rollercoaster of a season. We have had more late game stunners than every team in the league. The Terry touchdown against the Bengals, Crowder this past weekend, and obviously the Hail Mary. Everytime this team hits the field it is must see tv. No matter how things appear throughout the game. You just can’t count this team out. Jayden Daniels is him. I don’t know if there’s a better way to put it.
The beginning of the game had everyone thinking we were going to lose by 75 points. In the stands, the group I was apart of had genuine conversations about leaving the game. We set our number at 28. The moment we were losing by that many points, we were out of there. If it wasn’t for their running back who sometimes throws the ball getting hurt, we would have likely had a much different outcome. The team clawed their way back into the game with one of the best quarters of football I have seen in a long time. It was the second most exhilarating event that took place in Landover this season.
I’ve picked up some joy hearing all the clowns say congrats for beating a backup quarterback. I don’t think they were fully able to grasp the fact that Olamadi Zaccheus and Jameison Crowder accounted for 2 touchdowns each. We’re talking about a guy that the Eagles decided to let go of for Jahan Dotson and another old head who 75% of casual fans probably didn’t know was still on the league until Sunday. I’d like to congratulate Eagles fans for beating Josh Johnson, Garrett Gilbert, Mark Sanchez, Sam Howell, Jason Campbell, Rex Grossman, Kyle Allen, and others in the past. Excluding a few names, we’ve essentially had backups as our starters for the majority of my life. It makes sense that they don’t know how to react when our team finally found a real quarterback.
We managed to turn the ball over 5 times and still win the game. Jayden, who played a phenomenal game, let two throws get away from him. No excuses there those throws were absolutely awful. Then, we witnessed arguably the worst game of Brobs entire career. So yeah, congrats to us for beating Kenny Pickett. A guy who was a first round selection and started in Pittsburgh for 2 seasons. He didn’t even play that bad. It just goes to show how the Eagles offense is incapable of functioning without Hurts. I was amazed they were throwing the ball at the end of the game and going for it on 4th downs. All they had to do was feed Saquon but Sirianni is too incompetent to even do something as simple as that.
I think it’s safe to say if the offense can play like they did in the second half we have a shot at beating any team in the league. We still haven’t yet locked up out playoff spot, but it’s seeming very likely that we will have to go back to Philly for the wildcard. I understand we just beat them but I still rank them as the last team I want to play from the NFC in the playoffs. It’s unfortunate how many injuries the Lions have right now. We clinch this Sunday with a win. Even if we lose, we clinch with a Tampa loss. We control our own destiny which is something we don’t get to say around here often.
It is awesome this game was flexed to Sunday night. I speak for myself but a primetime game with no work the next day is as ideal as it gets. We are forecasted to get some rain throughout the day, but hopefully it will clear up before kickoff. I wouldn’t hate a little SNF in the rain. A few more than a couple drinks in and the rain pouring down sounds like it could make for some good memories. One thing that does worry me with the rain is the fact that we can’t run the ball right now and they have a guy who was built in a lab as their running back. It definitely plays to their hand if it’s a ground and pound game.
I’m not worried about BRob. He came back from getting shot so I think he should be able to handle fumbling the ball twice. I think this will be a comeback game for him which is exactly why I think betting him to score anytime is a phenomenal bet. I think it’d also be responsible to bet on Terry to score. The man just won’t stop scoring touchdowns. Lastly, I like our odds to win the football game and cover the spread.
I wish we would be getting Kirk back in the building. I’d have more confidence with him under center. But, it is cool we will get to see two top 10 picks play against each other in primetime. It’ll be tough to follow up last night’s high scoring matchup but I think these two will be able to get it done. We do have to hope Penix doesn’t play too well. He could throw for 40 touchdowns and steal RotY from Jayden. That would be less than ideal. That’s all I’ve got today. Wishing everyone a great weekend and happy New Year. Looking forward to writing back in 2025.
